Ron Paul – A Slumping Economy is as Difficult to Fight as Terrorism

Ron Paul understands the challenges of fighting terrorism and he’s concerned that a slumping economy will provide as big a challenge to Congress.  The root of his economic concerns stem from his belief the Federal Reserve not only causes economic problems to begin with but continues to be a part of the problem rather than the solution.  Take a look at what Dr. Paul wrote in Economic Terror:

“Dealing with the slumping economy will prove every bit as challenging to Congress as fighting terrorism.”

Certainly, the language asserted by Dr. Paul projects the extreme concern he feels for the economy.  He continues in the same article:

“It is precisely too much government, and especially manipulation of credit by the Federal Reserve, that precipitated the economic downturn in the first place. Increasing that which caused the recession can’t possibly, at the same time, be the solution.”

Dr. Paul has on many occasions voiced tremendous concern regarding the role of the Federal Reserve and its manipulation of credit.  In fact, he has such great concern the Federal Reserve is hurting the economy - he introduced legislation calling for its abolishment – Abolish the Fed:

Ron Paul Speaking:

“Mr. Speaker, I rise to introduce legislation to restore financial stability to America’s economy by abolishing the Federal Reserve.”

He continues – offering more insight into his reasoning:

“From the Great Depression, to the stagflation of the seventies, to the burst of the dotcom bubble last year, every economic downturn suffered by the country over the last 80 years can be traced to Federal Reserve policy. The Fed has followed a consistent policy of flooding the economy with easy money, leading to a misallocation of resources and an artificial “boom” followed by a recession or depression when the Fed-created bubble bursts.”

However, his political foundation as a “constitutionalist” – favoring little or no federal intervention into our economy other than that authorized to Congress - might offer the greatest insight into his desire to abolish the Federal Reserve – from Abolish the Fed:

“Abolishing the Federal Reserve will allow Congress to reassert its constitutional authority over monetary policy. The United States Constitution grants to Congress the authority to coin money and regulate the value of the currency. The Constitution does not give Congress the authority to delegate control over monetary policy to a central bank. Furthermore, the Constitution certainly does not empower the federal government to erode the American standard of living via an inflationary monetary policy.”

Ron Paul has a tremendous concern for the economy of the United States of America. His concern is for the people of this Great Country to be led from the United States Constitution – not the federal government.  This is not only reflected in his concern for our economy – it’s reflected in his other political positions as well.  You might like to take a closer look at Ron Paul the presidential candidate.

  1. Great Article!

I’m not sure if I’m going to vote for Ron Paul - but you are clearing up some issues here for me. But, would it be wise to abolish the Fed?
