Or, we could all drive less. If we cut the amount of cars on the road everyday in half, then gas prices would be cut in half. Supply and Demand. Check out www.AtoBme.com for Carpools and Hitch-A-Rides in the United States. Save money. Make friends. Do the environment a solid. GET AROUND.

I love point number 1) "Before the Iraq War, oil prices were around $30 per barrel. Today, the price of oil is more than double that amount. Obviously, the Iraq war has increased oil and gas prices."

using this same logic, I can then say: 1) Before I was married, gas prices were $1.27/gallon. Since I got married, the price has almost tripled. Obviously my marriage has increased oil and gas prices.

Stop with this nonsense that the War in Iraq has caused the sharp increase in the gas prices. You also need to remember that it's doubled since the Democrats took over in '06--something that's never in any of the "proof" in any political screeds that President's policies are responsible for the massive increase.

The best way to lower oil prices is to as follows:

1. Increase the strategic oil reserve by at least 3 times as what it is today. Every month or so, dump these reserves by 70% onto the open market. Keep this is up until we break the monster's back.
2. Require all cars sold in the USA to reach by 2012, a fuel mileage of 32 mpg city and 40 mpg highway. ALso, all new cars sold after this date must be able to run on the 85/15 flex fuel.
3. Have major tax breaks for farmers to produce enough crops to meet this demand.
4. Make it illegal for any crop used as flx fuel to be on the open market as a futures commodity. Cap prices to the point where farmers can make a reasonable but not a windfall profit.
5. Become a nation that quits worrying about the rest of the world and become a nation that puts 99% of all of its wealth and resources back into our country and drastically restrict any foreign aid.

I used to be a devout conservative, but 12 years of the Bush's, I have come to realize that what Clinton did actually worked except for his personal behavior.

Gas prices went up not because we went to war, but our enemies decided to bring it to us.

I think we went to the wrong war, but as long as were there, we need to stay committed to our rhetoric and follow up instead of stopping halfway. We should have either never gone over, or we should have gone in, kicked a$s, and installed a puppet government that answers to Washington, with huge subsidies for the Iraqi military in return for cheap oil. Iran is funding terrorism all over the world. If our government believes all the crap they spew, they should just go in and take over Iran as well.
Either way, how do you justify the whole thing to someone who has lost a family member?
